The prediction of the Japanese media overturned - former foreign minister Fumio Kishida overturned in the second round of the presidential election of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, winning the election by 257 votes to 170, surpassing taro Kono, the minister in charge of administrative reform, who was far ahead in many rounds of polls.
As the LDP occupies a majority in both houses of the Japanese parliament, according to practice, the winner of the LDP president election will succeed Kan Yiwei as Japanese Prime Minister. At present, Kishida can officially become Japan's 100th Prime Minister only through the formal authorization of the emperor of Japan on October 4.

According to previous reports, Ishida and current Japanese Prime Minister Kan Yiwei support the US Japan alliance. Novel coronavirus pneumonia also supported the government's aggressive spending of hundreds of billions of dollars to get Japan out of the economic downturn caused by the new crown pneumonia epidemic restrictions.
How to successfully flip?
In the first round of LDP president election voting held on September 29, taro Kono, Minister of administrative reform, once took the lead over Yukio Kishida with the support of ordinary LDP members, and entered the second round of runoff together with the latter.
Earlier, according to a public opinion survey conducted by Kyodo News Agency on September 26, taro Kono still led by 47.4%, followed by Wenxiong Kishida with a support rate of 22.4%, former general affairs minister Takashi Zaomiao ranked third with a support rate of 16.2%, and the support rate of Acting Secretary General of the liberal Democratic Party, Seiko Noda, was only 3%.4%。

However, in the second round of voting, the proportion of votes of LDP members of Parliament was larger, and Mr. Kono's poll support rate was not the advantage.
Meanwhile, according to Kyodo news agency, the Liberal Democratic Party's Wenxiong Kishida faction also successfully lobbied Kaoshi Zaomiao, who ranked third in the poll, to include its supporters.
In the end, the Liberal leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Fumio Kishida, was supported by a majority of the party's votes. After being defeated by Kan Yiwei last year, he was finally elected president of the Liberal Democratic Party and will become the 100th Japanese Prime Minister.
It is worth mentioning that Kishida's winning experience has also repeated history.
In the 2012 LDP president election, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe once lagged behind his competitors in the first round, but after obtaining the support of major factions in the party, he won the runoff in the second round, and finally became the Japanese Prime Minister with the longest tenure.
Represents the political bureaucratic family
Born into a political family in Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, Mr. Kishida, 64, followed his father to the United States when he was only five years old. Ishida once described the racial discrimination he suffered during his primary school in Queens, New York City.
Because of his childhood love of baseball, Ishida is still a loyal fan of Hiroshima carp baseball team. He also delayed his studies and failed to pass the law entrance examination of the University of Tokyo three times, which disappointed his parents.
But in the end, Ishida graduated from the law department of Waseda University in Japan and worked in Japan's long-term credit bank, embarking on the old road his congressman's father once walked.
In terms of style, Ishida is a common low-key leader in Japan after the war. He will not show his personal charm through TV speeches, but is used to climbing to the top step by step through the accumulation of support from factions within the party. In the LDP, the faction led by Fumio Kishida is usually considered to represent the family of Japanese political bureaucrats with a long history.
Previously, Ishida has been elected to the house of representatives for eight consecutive terms since 1993, and served as Japanese foreign minister from 2012 to 2017, becoming the second longest foreign minister after World War II.
Kishida also claimed that abolishing nuclear weapons is his lifelong career. During his tenure as foreign minister in 2016, he facilitated and arranged the then US President Barack Obama's visit to Hiroshima, which was the first visit by an incumbent US president to the scene after the atomic bomb explosion.

Moreover, he also negotiated with South Korea on the issue of World War II comfort women at the end of 2015. Although the negotiations finally ended due to the change of power of the South Korean government, Wenxiong Kishida, who actively handled sensitive affairs, won the trust of then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
During the election campaign, Ishida built himself into a low-key, down-to-earth politician who listened to public opinion. He once aired an old blue notebook during an election campaign in September, claiming that it was full of Japan's "national voice", which was the 30th notebook he had memorized in the past decade.
The policy proposition will not change greatly in the short term
In terms of economic proposition, although the Liberal Democratic Party is usually regarded as a conservative and pro business party, Ishida calls for getting rid of the neoliberal economics that has dominated Japanese politics over the past two decades. He previously promised to establish a "new Japanese capitalism" to more actively redistribute wealth in order to narrow the increasingly prominent gap between the rich and the poor during the epidemic.
"If the increased profits are monopolized by a few people, the gap will be further widened. This is not only about growth, but also about distribution, which is equal to income," Ishida said.
In this regard, the market generally believes that Japan's policy will not change much in the short term.
Novel coronavirus pneumonia is not yet contained, and whoever is the next prime minister of Japan will continue to expand fiscal and monetary policies for at least a year, Kawano Ryutaro, chief Japanese economist at Paris bank, France, said.
In terms of political and diplomatic opinions, some media believe that Ishida's views on Japan's national security are not different from Shinzo Abe.
The Washington Post reported that "as the leader of Japan's long-term ruling party, Yasuda is expected to continue the foreign policy policy advocated by Kan Yiwei and Shinzo Abe. This includes emphasizing the U.S. - Japan alliance, committed to the so-called" free and open Indian Pacific "and consolidating the partnership with other members of the like-minded" four nation "group".
In this regard, Huo Nong, a Japanese security and foreign policy expert at Rand, a consulting company, also believes that "from the perspective of security and diplomacy, I don't think we will see much change."
However, Koichi Nakano, a professor at Japan's Shangzhi University, believes that Ishida is a steady politician with weak leadership. However, he is also one of the candidates who knows how to master the sense of diplomatic balance. He is expected to consider economic exchanges and avoid confrontation with China on the basis of maintaining the US Japan alliance.
